A LITTLE ABOUT ME

I practice massage because I love the work. I love the challenge of deciphering our bodies' messages. I love helping people find more ease and comfort in their body. And I enjoy the peaceful nature of the work.

I stumbled upon massage by accident. Quite literally. Over ten years ago I was hit by a car while riding my bicycle. That incident combined with years of an inefficient gait, and my back gave out. In Seattle, where I was living at the time, massage therapy was a common insurance-covered treatment, so I was able to receive several sessions with a talented therapist. She not only helped resolve my acute issues, but she unwound years of aches and pains that I had resigned myself to putting up with. I became a believer, although I only received it occasionally in the following years because I still thought of it as an indulgence.

When I decided I wanted to switch things up career-wise and spend more time with my young kids, I jokingly told my friends I might go into massage. And then I did, and I haven't looked back. The training I received at the Carolina Massage Institute was top notch - with a strong emphasis on the nerdy details of anatomy, kinesiology, and pathology, as well as in-depth explorations of somatic psychology (think: mind-body connection) and the body's meridians (the interconnectedness within our bodies).

I now understand massage and bodywork not just as something indulgent, but also as a key part of wellness.

And it's my privilege to share that with others.
